FED:Gillard meets protesters, makes promises
After a torrid day dealing with former Labor leaders in Brisbane .. Prime Minister
JULIA GILLARD has been confronted with anti-nuclear dump protesters in Darwin.
She was quickly led away from JUSTIN TUTTY .. who told Ms GILLARD he represented the
traditional owners from Muckaty Station .. the site of a proposed nuclear waste dump.
Next stop was a local hockey field to meet up with children before the prime minister
outlined a no-school .. no-play initiative .. to lift school attendance rates.
Under a partnership between her government and eight national sporting organisations
.. children who don't go to school won't be able to play sport.
Ms GILLARD's also announced 30 new sub-acute beds at the Royal Darwin Hospital in the
marginal seat of Solomon .. and funding for a thousand more schools to join the chaplains'
program.
