Ripple Technologies, Inc. Forms Strategic Partnership with Box Hill Systems Corp.

WASHINGTON CROSSING, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 1999--

Ripple Technologies, a leading developer of enterprise-wide management system solutions, announced today that it has formed a strategic partnership with Box Hill Systems Corp. (NYSE: BXH), a leading independent provider of storage and SAN solutions. Through this new partnership, Box Hill is now OEMing Ripple Technologies' LogCaster real-time network monitoring package. LogCaster will be integrated with Box Hill's Fibre Box Array Explorer v2.3+ monitoring software for Windows NT(TM). The software is included as a standard feature with Box Hill's Fibre Box(R) and Fibre Box(R) 8004 Fibre Channel storage systems.

RippleTech LogCaster is a software product that allows network administrators to monitor NT environments, which will lead to higher systems availability, tighter security, and lower administration costs. It will also assist in monitoring the results of Y2K planning and help plan for future systems needs.

Box Hill selected LogCaster for its asynchronous event notification features, such as e-mail, paging and SNMP. In particular, Box Hill plans to capitalize on LogCaster's built-in Sky-Tel paging support, e-mail, Web paging, and dial-up paging functionality. Additionally, Box Hill will take advantage of LogCaster's multiple routes for e-mail and paging, its 100% Active Push Technology, and its ability to send and receive SNMP traps.

"This new strategic partnership truly creates a `win-win' opportunity for Box Hill and Ripple Technologies," said Dave Fisher, Vice President of Sales for Ripple Technologies, Inc. "We'll benefit from the incremental sales that result from having access to Box Hill's established customer base, while Box Hill will benefit by being able to provide even greater value to users of its Fibre Channel storage systems."

"LogCaster brings an important feature to Box Hill's Fibre Box Array Explorer 2.3," said Box Hill CEO Philip Black. "By incorporating LogCaster, FBAE 2.3 allows storage and system administrators to monitor their entire network from a single terminal. This is key to the deployment and administration of Storage Area Networks, a technology that Box Hill is committed to supporting."

Ripple Technologies' LogCaster uniquely provides all the standard utilities needed to manage a Windows NT network, such as centralized management console, Windows NT Event Log monitoring and filtering, Windows NT service monitoring, alerts and alarms, and more. In addition, LogCaster is both easy to install and configure, so results can be achieved almost instantaneously. Plus, system and network administrators can even fine tune the program with user-defined events, reports, templates and other advanced filtering rules for customized applications, business group configuration, and custom security and audit policies.

Box Hill's Fibre Box Array Explorer (FBAE) is a suite of software designed to help network administrators manage, configure, and maximize the performance of their Fibre Box in a Windows NT environment. The FBAE package features Controller-less RAID, a user-friendly GUI that can be accessed either locally or remotely and SAN Spanning(TM) functionality that advances storage networking capabilities.

The Box Hill Fibre Box is a high-speed, hot-swappable, Fibre Channel RAID storage system with Controller-less RAID fault-tolerance that offers an unmatched combination of speed, reliability, and flexibility. Speeds of up to 200 MB/s, capacities up to 288 GB per enclosure (4.5 TB per loop), and transmission distances from 30 m - 10 km make the Fibre Box ideal for mission-critical database applications, multimedia imaging, video, Internet and Web server programs.

The latest generation of Box Hill's fast and reliable Fibre Channel disk storage systems, the Fibre Box 8004 features enhanced compatibility, flexibility, and manageability. With transfer rates up to 200 MB/s (ten times faster than SCSI), and the ability to accommodate Controller-less RAID, Fibre Box 8004 is an ideal component for use in Storage Area Networks (SAN).
