Vic: Stranded whales taken to quieter waters

The last five long-finned pilot whales from a pod of 27 stranded on a Tasmanian beach
.. have been moved to calmer waters .. where it's hoped they can be saved.

Officials say the five whales .. which can weigh up to 3.5 tonnes .. have been moved
to try to stabilise them.

It's hoped the whales' health will improve in the knee-high waters of Macquarie Harbour
.. and it's possible they could be pushed back out to sea as soon as today.
